        Summary
The main aim of this study was to investigate whether online verbal self-disclosure influences self-esteem via positive peer feedback. The overall interest in social media along adolescents keeps on growing. And self- disclosure, which is an important aspect for creating self-esteem, is nowadays increasingly taking place via social media. About 25% of the standard information revealed on social media that can be revealed, revealing highly personal, sensitive and potentially stigmatizing information. The self-disclosure on social media then also receives feedback, which influences self-esteem. A survey among 852 Dutch adolescents (10 -15 years) showed that online verbal self-disclose is a predictor of positive peer feedback and positive peer feedback is a predictor of self-esteem.
