        Summary
Primo Levi has translated Jacques Presser's short novel 'De nacht der Girondijnen' (1st ed. 1957, 'La notte dei Girondini', 1st ed. 1976) from the German translation by Edith Rost-Blumberg ("Die Nacht der Girondisten'. 1st ed. 1959), though he himself claimed to have translated it directly from the Dutch. Presser's novel fits well into Levi's "programme"of giving evidence of the Shoah: in particular, it is about Jewish collaboration with the Nazis during World War II, a major theme in Levi's work as well. The translation, however, is not very accurate.
