Beyond Parking: Exploring the User Experience of Park and Ride systems in Utrecht
Summary
This thesis explores the user experience of Park and Ride systems in Utrecht. A qualitative study based on interviews with P+R users at P+R Science Park and P+R Papendorp was conducted to gain in-depth insight into these experiences. This study identifies various experiential factors that shape how users perceive and experience P+R, including aspects related to safety, speed, reliability, convenience, comfort, and cost. These experiences influence users' willingness to use P+R systems and highlight the importance of a user-centred approach. The research also shows that while P+R can support a shift away from car use, its effectiveness depends on integration with broader mobility strategies. The findings offer insights for improving P+R systems and advancing sustainable mobility strategies in urban contexts such as Utrecht.
