Removal of singularities through hierarchies of singularities
Summary
In this thesis we consider a removal of singularities proof for the Smale-Hirsch theorem about immersions in the non-critical dimension case. This proof was suggested by M. Gromov in his book Partial Differential Relations. In this thesis we present a reconstruction of the argument described by Gromov and provide full details for it. In particular, we present a general construction of hierarchies of singularities in jet spaces of sections, which are based on theThom-Boardman singularities for jet spaces of functions.

Lyapunov-Schmidt Reduction for Singular Perturbations: Wave Trains in Reaction-Diffusion Systems
Yudistira Lesmana, .. (2011)We discuss wave trains in reaction-diffusion system on the real line. We also discuss the singular perturbation theory. The framework of Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method is discuss in detail and we also show that wave ... -
Weak Definites and Bare Singulars: Their Syntactic Peculiarities
Scholten, J. (2010)This thesis discusses the syntactic properties of weak definites and bare singulars in locative PP constructions. The realization of these weakly referential phrases (i.e. nominal phrases that do not seem to set up individual ... -
Polarisation singularities on plasmonic nanowires
Voort, N.T.M. van der (2013)Placing quantum dots at polarisation singularities is expected to allow for direct control over the directionality of the emitted light. Possibly creating a photon driven quantum bit. Here, we investigate the occurrence ...
