        Summary
This thesis is about the spatial development of Mumbai with special attention to the development of railinfrastructure in the city. One of the case studies is the VAG-metro corridor, the first metroline of the ambitious Mumbai Metro Project. Scientists like Graham & Marvin write about splintering urbanism and the role of selective infrastructure networks and privatisation in this proces of a changing spatial form of cities. In this thesis the assumptions and effects of splintering urbanism are challenged and put in a different perspective for the case of Mumbai using Actor-Network Theory as theoretical and methodological framework.
