Impact of Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) variability on ocean carbon uptake
Summary
The ocean is an important sink of CO2, its uptake of this gas is partly controlled by the ocean circulation. In this thesis we develop a carbon cylce model with a variable atlantic meridional overturning circulation. We find with our model that a collapse of the AMOC leads to an increased uptake of CO2, which in turn leads to a decreased atmospheric CO2 concentration.
