Darkside van PSM: Een kwantitatief onderzoek naar de relatie tussen public service motivation en burn-out en de invloed van een sense of community en sociale support in het basisonderwijs
Summary
A lot of primary schoolteachers suffer from burn-out. Much is already known about the antecedents of burn-out, but one possible cause has not often been researched. This thesis looks at one possible antecedent: public service motivation. If teachers can’t fulfil their public service motivational needs, they may work harder eventually leading to a burn-out. This thesis also looks at two possible buffers for this process, namely: experiencing a sense of community and social support. Through an online survey with 537 respondents, this was researched. The data did not support the hypotheses. However, this research shows that both a sense of community and social support can decrease burn-out in primary schoolteachers.
