        Summary
Objective: This study focused on the influence of Monkey Moves on global self-esteem and social acceptance in children aged 4 to 9 years old. Method: Monkey Moves is a multisports program for children with a focus on improvement of social and motor skills. In this quantitative study 42 children and 14 parents were measured twice over a period of 10 weeks. Global self-esteem and social acceptance were measured with questionnaires filled in by parents and children. Results: No significant influence of Monkey Moves were found on global self-esteem and social acceptance. However, large individual changes on global self-esteem and social acceptance were found. Conclusion: After 10 weeks of Monkey Moves no significant changes were found on global self-esteem and social acceptance. The small sample size and ceiling effect should be considered in future studies.
