Translating Web Texts: theory and practice
Summary
This thesis examines the issues that arose while translating the website of an IT service provider, Lemontree Outsourcing, from Dutch into English. The source text is characterized by a specific textual medium (the Internet), a specific textual function (operative/persuasive), and a specific genre (technical texts). These three topics are explored in detail in the first half of the thesis. The second half consists of a translation-focused analysis of the source text, followed by an annotated translation and concluding remarks.
