Wat is de bijdrage van jongerenparticipatie aan positive youth development? Een case study naar de jongerenraad Zwolle.

Abstract

This paper investigates the effects of youth participation of the youth council of Zwolle on positive youth development. The youth council of Zwolle gives recommendations that stimulate youth participation within the community rather than represent the youth of the city. Interviews were held with nine members of the youth council and five members took part in a focus group. In addition, eighteen surveys and one interview were carried out to examine youth participation in the organizations asking for advice from the youth council. Members of the youth council experienced positive changes through their membership in accordance with the four aspects in regard to competence, confidence, connection and character. Within the organizations youth participation was used more often and on higher steps of the participation ladder after the advice.
