        Summary
This study investigated the relationship between parenting behavior and children’s temperament, mediated by gender differences and birth order. This relationship was evaluated in a sample of 216 mothers with at least one child in the age of four, five or six years old. Data was found using the CECPAQ and CBQ-VSF. Results indicate that aspects of children's temperament - negative affect, effortful control and surgency - were significantly correlated with consistency, positive discipline, negative control and psychological control. In terms of gender differences concerning the child temperament, girls scored significant higher on effortful control. There were also significant differences in birth order concerning the child temperament. Implications of these findings are discussed.
