In recent years, attention has grown for the contextual approach of education and upbringing, known as the pedagogical civil society (PCS) (De Winter, 2011; Kesselring, 2018). The connection between educators established by the PCS enables parents to feel supported in their role (Gravesteijn, 2013). Opportunities exist within the school environment to further develop the PCS (Hilhorst & Zonneveld, 2013). For instance, by focussing on educational and pedagogical partnership within parent rooms. Current qualitative research aims at gathering insight into the motivations and perspective of parents regarding educational and pedagogical partnership within parent rooms. To gain insight into these perspectives, semi structured interviews were conducted with parents (n=13) from nine different parent rooms. This research is relevant because there seems to be insufficient consideration for parent’s wishes regarding the process of development and execution within primary education. This lack of consideration may cause a division between school and family (Kenniscentrum Onderwijs en Opvoeding, 2019). Insight into the motivation and perspective of parents may contribute to the effective reinforcement of educational and pedagogical partnership within parent rooms and consequently the PCS. This article illustrates that most parents see value/benefit in a partnership with the school within the parent room. They emphasize the value of equal and accessible contact with the school during their collaboration within the parent room. The school may invest in building an equal relationship of trust within the parent room through unscheduled visits and informal conversation with parents. A professional intermediate such as the parent consultant can play an important role in this process (Hermans, 2016). Sleutelwoorden: pedagogische civil society, educatief partnerschap, pedagogisch partnerschap, ouderkamers, motivatie, ontmoeting, informele opvoedsteun.
