        Summary
This study about the socialization ideals of millennial parents aims to portray the millennial generation as parents. For this qualitative and exploratory study millennial parents (n=9) were interviewed about their expectations and ideals for their children, their idea of a good parent and what they believe to be the right parenting style. Generational similarities and differences as well as differences in ideals for sons and daughters were also discussed. The millennial parent seems to be an authoritative and democratic parent, who aims to be more guiding than controlling towards their children. Their endeavor is a happy, autonomous and self-developing child. There seems to be no difference in socialization ideals for sons or daughters. The generational similarities exist more within families, while the differences seem to appear distributed across the millennial generation. Millennial parents tend to reflect more on themselves in their parenting role and seem to have more conscious socialization ideals than their parents had.
