Long Distance Scrambling in Japanese and Dutch
Summary
The aim of this paper is to explore the properties of Long Distance Scrambling (henceforth
LDS) in Dutch and Japanese by comparing them with their long distance fronting operations,
i.e. Long Distance Focal movement (henceforth LDF) in the Dutch language and Long
Distance Topicalisation (henceforth LDT) in Japanese. 'Long Distance' in those operations
indicates that displaced elements cross more than one clause.
