        Summary
On the one hand, this study examines the role of educational attainment in the formation of people's social capital in rural Guatemalan communities. Instead of educational attainment, other socio-demographic determinants, such as language, religion and age, appear to have a more profound influence on people's social relationships. On the other hand, the impact of pre-primary education on school results of children in primary school have been measured. Due to several limitations and constraints, attendance of preschool programs doesn't make a significant difference in student's school performance.
