Summary
The main focus of this thesis is the influence of Alexis de Tocqueville on Dutch conservatism. It begins by researching the historical and philosophical origins of Tocqueville's discours. Thereafter, the main aspects of conservatism as political and philosophical mouvement will be treated, as well as its main Dutch exponents. Thereupon, a comparaison between the two is made, thus showing the importance of Tocqueville. In the third section, one of the lesser known books of Tocqueville, namely his Souvenirs, will be examined more closely.
