Abstract

This thesis concerns a study into the legal possibility of prosecuting perpetrators of environmental crimes on the basis of the criminalization of money laundering. It examines the legal feasibility of such prosecution, the extent to which it is applied in practice, the practical and legal obstacles that hinder its application, and the impact of Directive (EU) 2024/1203 and the related Dutch legislative proposal on the identified practical and legal obstacles.
