Samenvatting Engels TITLE: Team Learning in true context, a different team BACKGROUND: Implementations do not always succeed. Until now, little attention has been given to group processes possibly responsible for this. Nurses are key to successful implementations in current health care. AIM AND RESEARCH QUESTIONS: The research contributes to a better understanding of relevant influencing factors on team learning in a nursing context. The aim of the research is to contribute to theory building of team learning and implementations. Furthermore the hospital at which team research has taken place obtains information about the team learning processes present and the influencing factors in its organization. The research question is: How does the mode of learning for the team relate to team configuration, leadership style and history of learning? METHOD: Case study RESULTS: The mode of team learning is fragmented. There is no strong configuration. Leadership style is considered passive. The history of learning is experienced as positive. CONCLUSION: The results seem to indicate a correlation between leadership, team configuration and the mode of team learning. These factors appear to contribute to team learning. RECOMMENDATIONS: Further research is needed on the factors influencing team learning within nursing teams. More extensive quantitative research to the relation between leadership style, configuration of the team en modes of team learning can contribute to a better understanding. Hospitals and health organisations can benefit from this knowledge when designing and practicing policies on implementing innovations.
