        Summary
Soil acidity and alkalinity are important chemical properties of soil and one of its fundamental attributes. They not only affect soil fertility but also the formation of soil nutrients and harmful substances, thereby influencing plant growth, development, and production quality. At the same time, soil microorganisms, especially those in the rhizosphere, have a significant impact on plant growth. Soil pH also affects the activity of rhizosphere microorganisms, indirectly influencing plant growth conditions. With the development of human society and climate change, many areas are experiencing severe acidification or alkalization due to overexploitation of soil or natural changes. Therefore, studying the impact of soil acidity and alkalinity on plant growth and improving it is of great significance. To this end, this article provides an overview of the mechanisms behind soil acidity and alkalinity, their effects on the availability of plant nutrients and growth, the impact of soil pH on rhizosphere microorganisms, and how plants adapt to changes in soil pH. The aim is to provide a reference for the practical application of soil acidity and alkalinity and for similar research studies.
