Culturele professional en jongerenwerker samen één team: Een kwalitatief onderzoek naar de samenwerking tussen de culturele professional en de jongerenwerker
Summary
Some of the youth in the Netherlands are in vulnerable positions. Cultural policy is paying increasing attention to these youths to provide support in the transition to adulthood. It is important that the cultural professional and the youth worker who implement this cultural policy for vulnerable youth work well together. Because there is no research into the collaboration between these professionals yet, the aim of the current qualitative research is to explore (optimal) ways of designing the collaboration between the cultural professional and the youth worker. Ten cultural professionals and/or youth workers were interviewed individually. The interviews were analyzed using six elements in interdisciplinary collaboration: willingness to collaborate, team structure, understanding of the other discipline, communication, shared norms and responsibility and mutual trust. The interviews showed that there are several effective elements in the collaboration: short lines of communication, clear division of tasks and communication, understanding of the other discipline, shared responsibility, mutual trust and openness and integrity. It also appeared that there are barriers (financial limitations, failure to meet agreements and busyness) and points for improvement (more clarity, budget and collaboration). In conclusion, the collaboration already has many effective elements, but there is still work to be done to achieve optimal collaboration. Because only professionals were interviewed, no statements can be made about the actual effect of the collaboration on the youth for whom the professionals work together. This effect should be
investigated in follow-up research on the basis of the experiences of the youth
