dc.description.abstractThe tragedy Medea, originally documented by the Greek Euripides, is one of the myths that continues to fascinate a broad audience worldwide. In this investigation, two modern adaptations based on the adaptation of Seneca have been analyzed: Medea, directed by Andrés Lima, and Medea (la Extranjera), directed by Ricardo Iniesta. By studying a number of theatrical resource used in the adaptations - the choice of actors, costume and props - we strive to discover their symbolic meaning. According to modern theories, these theatrical resources serve to underline and support the message of the director in a metophorical manner. Next, these observations will be connected to the information about the play provided by the directors and the reviews of the critics. These two case studies demonstrate both the possible interpretations and the relevance of the myth of Medea in modern times.
