In this thesis we will discuss the holographic description of cuprate superconductors in the strange metalphase. The strange metal phase occurs as the high-temperature behaviour above the superconducting phasetransition. From experimental results it is observed that around the Fermi surface the imaginary part of the(nodal) self energy obeys a power law in terms of both temperature and energy. We introduce a holographicdescription of this strange metal by means of a dual Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) gravity theory. Withthis model some features of the experimental behaviour of the strange metal can be reproduced. We alsopresent some additional results that could lead to new experimental insights.
