        Summary
This research investigated how work experiences are related to psychological availability. Psychological availability refers to the individual’s ability and motivation to give direct psychological attention to the children. This study also investigates if number of work hours and education level of the parents have a moderating effect on this relation. A survey was conducted among 133 Dutch dual-earners couples with children in the age of 0 - 12. The findings suggest that work experience is related to psychological availability. Besides these positive findings there is no influence of work hours and education level on psychological availability.
