        Summary
This correlational study examined the distinction between constructs of an implicit theory of intelligence and constructs of the self-concept. Terms like growth and fixed mindset, selfefficacy, perceived competence and self-esteem are studied frequently, but there seems to be some overlap. Clarifying the similarities and differences between the constructs might contribute to a better interpretation of previous and future research. In total, 82 adults from higher education filled in the Implicit Theories of Intelligence Questionnaire, the Dutch General Self-Efficacy Scale, two subscales of the Self-Perception Profile for College Students and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Results show that mindset and self-efficacy are different constructs, and that mindset and perceived competence are as well. On the other hand, self-efficacy and perceived competence seem to overlap. Self-esteem was related to all other constructs. Implications and recommendations were discussed.
