EUR 1935-1960. Il recupero di un progetto fascista nel dopoguerra
Summary
The thesis treats the origins and development of the EUR quarter in Rome. The zone was originally destined for a Universal Exposition in 1942, organised by Mussolini and aimed at presenting fascist Italy as a superior civilization. During the war, the project was abandoned, but in the early 1950s new initiatives began to emerge. Under the direction of Virgilio Testa, EUR developed into a popular residential and commercial zone and was a location for the Olympic games that took place in Rome in 1960. The EUR quarter has thus, by a process of transformation, lost its fascist connotations and assumed a new meanings.
