Rare, weak 𝐽/𝜓 decays in BESIII: 𝐽/𝜓 → 𝐷⁰𝜙 and 𝐽/𝜓 → 𝐷⁰𝜔
Summary
The BESIII collaboration has produced the largest, clean sample of 𝐽/𝜓 mesons through 𝑒⁺𝑒⁻ collisions. These collisions are used to performed detailed studies of decays involving charmed mesons. In this study, a new upper limit has been set on the rare, weak decays 𝐽/𝜓 → 𝐷⁰𝜙 and 𝐽/𝜓 → 𝐷⁰𝜔 using hadronic decay modes 𝐷⁰ → 𝐾⁺𝜋⁻, φ → 𝐾⁺𝐾⁻, and ω → 𝜋⁺𝜋⁻𝜋⁰, 𝜋⁰ → 𝛾𝛾 using a sample of 10 billion 𝐽/𝜓 events. The upper limits of the branching ratios determined by this study are ℬ(𝐽/𝜓 → 𝐷⁰𝜙) < 3.4·10⁻⁷ and ℬ(𝐽/𝜓 → 𝐷⁰ω) < 2.1·10⁻⁶ with systematic uncertainties of at least 5.8% and 6.1% respectively. These are the first upper limits set on these decay channels, but these results can be quoted only after more systematic uncertainties have been evaluated.
