De inspraak over ontmoetingsplekken voor jongeren in De Bilt: Vormgeving en (in)consistenties bij organisaties in De Bilt.
Summary
In De Bilt we have investigated the participation of young people, in meeting places within the youth network. In this study, the following questions are discussed: "Which organizations within the youth network are involved in youth participation concerning meeting places?", "How do the organizations within the youth network shape participation of young people concerning meeting places?", and "What similarities and differences exist between the organizations within the youth network?". To investigate these questions, nine informants were interviewed, using semi-open interviews. These nine informants had been working in organizations in the youth network, including organizations with a Christian basis and youth centers. The informants who were interviewed are involved with young people in the neighborhood or engage with the youth policy in the municipality, as an alderman. For the analysis of the results, we have used the following key labels: ‘meeting places for young people’, ‘youth engagement’, ‘reaching young people and being reached by young people’ and ‘impact of social differences’. The results between the organizations in the youth network in De Bilt are versatile concerning to participation about meeting places. All organizations indicated that young people themselves should think actively about activities concerning meeting each other. Some organizations also seek contact themselves with their youth members to brainstorm about new activities. In youth centers, the initiative must originate from the young people themselves. The neighborhood sport coaches have extensive contact with young people who state that they want to organize an event themselves. Research therefore shows that there are similarities and differences in the way the organizations within the youth network in De Bilt are dealing with participation of young people.
