De invloed van de ouder-ouder relatie op de ouder-kind relatie na een scheiding
Summary
Data from The Netherland Kinship Panel Study (NKPS) was used to examine the effects of divorce and the quality of the parent-parent relationship on the parent-child relationship. Both mother-child and father-child relationships were examined. We furthermore looked into how social economic status might influence these effects. Our hypothesis was that divorce negatively influenced the parent-child relationship. This was confirmed by the data provided by the Kinship Panel Study. It was additionally expected that parents who experienced conflict had a less positive parent-child relationship in comparison with parents who did not experience conflict. This second hypothesis was again supported by the provided dataset. However, we did not find any constructive evidence to support the notion that the parents’ social economic status had any effect on the parent-child relationship after a divorce.
