Is er een verband tussen de verkorte PPVT-III-NL en de WoordenschatLex, gemeten bij peuters?: Het verschil in geslacht en (niet-)tweetalige opvoeding
Summary
The WoordenschatLex is a new test to measure toddler vocabulary. In this study the construct validity of this test is examined by comparing the scores of toddlers (n=95) with their scores on the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-III-NL (PPVT-III-NL). In addition, the difference in gender and between monolingual and bilingual toddlers is analysed, as well as the influence of gender and language on the relation PPVT-III-NL-WoordenschatLex. The obtained results show lower scores for the PPVT-III-NL than the WoordenschatLex, as well as lower scores for girls than boys and higher scores for monolinguals than bilinguals on the WoordenschatLex. Furthermore, the results show no influence of language on the relation PPVT-III-NL-WoordenschatLex. However, gender does show influence on this relation. It can be concluded that the construct validity of the WoordenschatLex is insufficient. It is important to revise the WoordenschatLex before conducting a new study.
