Whitman, Dickinson and the railroad

Abstract

This paper will focus on the significance of the railroad in nineteenth century America, and how this is represented in the two railroad poems "To a Locomotive in Winter" by Walt Whitman and "I like to see it lap the Miles" by Emily Dickinson.
