Schur-Weyl Duality

Abstract

The subject of Schur-Weyl Duality relates the fields of differential geometry and algebra as it proposes a correspondence between irreducible representations of both the Lie group GL(n,C) and the finite symmetric group Sk. The intent of this thesis is to amass the theory needed to understand this result.
