A proposal for a two dimensional string theory is advanced. It contains singularities that are hypothesised to correspond to a big bang and big crunch. The string theory is also related to a matrix model, which arises when the string's worldsheet is approximated by flat polygons. This matrix model is solvable, which should allow the calculation of string theory data to all orders in perturbation theory. This theses investigates these suppositions by attempting to calculate the string partition function to all orders using the matrix model. Ultimately the final expression remains elusive, but evidence was found that the string theory is well behaved.
