dc.description.abstract | This thesis will explore the stylistic device free indirect discourse (FID) and what effect different translation strategies of FID have on translations. The research material will be Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway and its three translations into Dutch. The purpose of this investigation is to describe and compare the different translation strategies used to translate FID in order to get a closer look at what effects different translation strategies can have on the interpretive possibilities that the target text offers. | |
