The present study is based on data delivered by a Dutch beer brewing company. Demographic data, sickness absence rates en evaluation scores were used to examine if there is a negative relation between results-based evaluation and sickness absence duration and frequency and vice versa. Ancova’s tested if there was a difference in evaluation scores between different sickness absence groups. Hierarchal multiple regression analyses tested if an evaluation score in a former year had influence on absence duration and frequency a year later. Results found a negative relation between results based evaluation absence frequency a year later in two of six years. And found a negative relation between results-based evaluation and sickness duration a year later in one of six years. These results indicate that there is possibly a relationship between evaluation and sickness absence. Further research is needed to endorse these findings.
