dc.description.abstractWe study the influence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction on the structure of domain walls in magnetic nanowires. Using a variational approach, we show how the type of domain wall changes under the influence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. In paticular, we show how the domain wall gradually transforms from a Bloch to Neel wall for increasing strength of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactios. These results are relevant for the development of modern technologies that make use of domain walls, such as the magnetic race-track memory.
