Mixing Media: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries as a postmodern adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

Abstract

This thesis discusses 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries', a new adaptation in video blog format of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, through the lens of 'new-wave' adaptation studies. This adaptation employs transmedia storytelling, video blogging and audience engagement in a unique way, so as to take a critical stance towards its source material. Does it do so in a postmodern way, and if so, how?
