        Summary
Cartilage is an avascular structure with minimal endogenous repair. During embryonic development cartilage is vascularized and will later loose this vascularization. The aim of this review was to asses the factors involved in cartilage development and vascularization and if these factors could be used to rapair cartilage defects.
