Abstract

This thesis revolves around the American dream ideology and focuses on the role of the ideology in American culture. In order to illustrate the role the ideology fulfils, the reflection that post-apocalyptic novels The Road (Cormac McCarthy) and The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins) provide on American society has been analysed.
