        Summary
The aim of this study was to obtain data for the prevalence of U. stenocephala in dogs. The possible influences of foxes living in the Netherlands were also included in this study. To investigate the influences of foxes, samples were collected from dogs that live in Utrecht and dogs that live in The Hague. The Hague was chosen for its population foxes that live in the urban district, in Utrecht there were no reports of foxes in the urban district. In Utrecht there was found a prevalence of strongyletype eggs of 10%, in The Hague a prevalence of 6,9% and an overall prevalence of 8,5%. There was no significant difference between the two groups. A total of 118 samples were collected, 60 of them came from Utrecht and 58 from The Hague. The samples were screened microscopically by using the centrifugation-flotation-sedimentation technique. Strongyletype eggs that were founded were measured. If they fit in the dimensions of U. stenocephala eggs, the sample was found positive. A larval culture was used if the determination throughout the measurements failed.
