This study determined the reliability, content and construct validity of the Traumatic Grief Inventory – Self-Report (TGI-SR) in a sample of participants who lost their loved one in a car accident (age 18-89 years, n = 301). Between August and September 2017, assessment took place with QIDS, PCL-5 and the TGI-SR at participant’s quarters. Cronbach’s alpha showed that TGI-SR has a good internal consistency (.86). An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) produced a four-factor solution. Pearson correlation showed that TGI-SR is positively correlated with the QIDS (r = .31, p < .01) and the PCL-5 (r = .49, p < .01). Post hoc comparisons (Bonferroni’s) showed that the spouse’s relationship type (p < .05) had a higher score compare to mother, father, child, sibling, and other relationship type. Result indicate that the TGI-SR somehow reliable instrument and has a good construct validity. However, it is lacking a big part of local wisdom and culture within.
