Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Social Phobia (SP) are both common diagnosed disorders among adolescents. This study investigated whether there is a relation between GAD and SP and if gender, ethnicity and substance use have a moderation influence on this relationship while there will be corrected for the influence of age. The sample that is used in this study exists of a large number of Dutch adolescents (n= 1509) in the age of 11-24. All the respondents are following HAVO or VWO education. To measure GAD, SP, ethnicity and substance some subscales of the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) are used. The results of hierarchical regression analyses showed that there is indeed a relation between GAD en SP and that this relationship significantly differs for gender, ethnicity and three categories of substance users. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that gender, ethnicity and substance use are all moderators of the relationship between GAD en SP when there will be corrected for the influence of age. The results are discussed in a final conclusion.
