dc.description.abstract | A lot changes in behavioral and emotional level during the crucial adolescence phase in which low well-being is regularly experienced. A high well-being is important because in adolescents it can lead to more productivity and social involvement. According to the psychoanalytical theory, well-being can be influenced by the quality of the parent-child relationship. To substantiate this with empirical scientific research, the cohesion between well-being and the quality of the parent-child relationship is investigated. In addition, it was investigated whether the intensity of the problems has an impact on this cohesion. This study contains 56 adolescents between the age of 13 and 23 years. The participants completed questionnaires about the quality of the relationship with their parents, how they assess their well-being and to what extent they experience problems. The data has been analyzed through a Pearson's r correlation and a one-way analysis of covariance. It appears that the parent-child relationship does not seem to be related to the well-being of the adolescent. Moreover, no difference was found when checking for intensity of problems. This leads to the need of further investigation towards other factors that may be related to well-being. | |
