Fatherhood and father involvement is an emerging subject of research, as fathers spend a growing amount of time with their children. Despite that, the vast majority of conducted research is about mothers and their influence on child development. This research is aimed at father involvement and its effect on various components of child development, namely the social-emotional development, problem-solving, and language development, and whether this relationship differs between boys and girls. The research method consisted of the Ages and Stages Questionaire that is completed by fathers and mothers and analysed by using ANOVA. Results showed that there is no relation between involvement of the father and better developmental outcomes in children. Although fathers reported better problem solving abilities for girls than boys, sex of the child did not significantly moderate the association between father involvement and child development. Contrary to expectations, no relation between father involvement and child development was found. Research in literature shows that it is not only about the amount of time spent between father and child, but also about the way the father is involved. Therefore, in the end of this research recommendations are done to always take into account the quantitative and qualitative aspects of father involvement when looking at the influence on the child’s development.
