In this research we investigate whether a conviction may affect the quality of the relationship. We also examined if conflicts with the partner and partner attachment are possible explanations for the connection between a conviction and the quality of the relationship. We use the Netherlands Kinship Panel Study dataset, which is based on 4495 respondents. 91 of the 4495 respondents have been convicted and 4404 have not been convicted. Using a linear regression, this research shows that a conviction has a negative impact on the quality of the relationship. It is also showed that this negative impact is explained by conflicts with the partner and partner attachment.
