Comparison between primary source material on Harriet Tubman and American children's literature written about her in various periods in time. Harriet Tubman was a woman who escaped slavery, but traveled back into slave territory to rescue fellow slaves and escort them North on the Underground Railroad. The children's literature shows how her portrayal in popular culture changed over time.
