This paper investigates how the native language influences in the acquisition of the second language. Specifically, how the native language Papiamento influences in the acquisition of the second language, Spanish. The objective of the study is to investigate whether Spanish speakers like L2 and Papiamento like L1 have acquired the pragmatic and lexical-semantically correct use of the two orders between the Spanish verb and the subject: SV and VS. Specifically, the intention is to investigate whether there is a transfer of the Papiamento, which only SV admits. This study is relevant because the idea expressed by the interface hypothesis is verified, which predicts that the application of pragmatic and lexical-semantic rules is complicated in the acquisition processes. Regarding the results, the main result of this experiment indicates that Papiamento speakers seem to have acquired these pragmatic and lexical-semantic rules that govern the subject's position in Spanish.
