dc.description.abstract | This - partly biographical - study endeavours to shed light on the role of three Dutch women who were sent to Eastern Europe during the Second World War by the “Nederlandsche Oost Compagnie” (Dutch East Company) - also known as NOC - which was collaborating with the Germans in colonisation efforts in the eastern territories. The way in which the women behaved is compared with the image of ideal womanly behavior valid within the “Nationaaal-Socialistische Beweging NSB” (the Dutch Nazi Movement) and the NSB movement for women “Nationaal- Socialistische Vrouwen Organisatie NSVO”. The study of Elizabeth Harvey "Women and the Nazi East. Agents and witnesses of Germanization" regarding women as complices to Nazi policies was taken as a starting point. | |
