Youth sport is increasingly seen as a way to achieve different goals. Yet there are also some risks for children in playing sports. It is therefore wise to guaranty the pedagogical quality at sports clubs based on several quality characteristics. In a exploratory study, according to the experiences off a small group of volunteers, the experienced pedagogical quality in structural, process, child and environmental characteristics of the concerning sports clubs in Rotterdam, is examined. A pedagogical coordinator is working at each sports club to improve the pedagogical quality. Often the communication between volunteers, coaches, committee, athletes and the pedagogical coordinator is weak. The pedagogical quality will increase on sports clubs when you take into account a clear communication, the pedagogical training of coaches, promoting parental involvement and compliance with rules and agreements, during the intervention.
