This thesis gives an insight in the primary education at the school of Escana, a community in the department of Chuquisaca, Bolivia. The education is compared with national education policies and knowledge needs of the students. A big discrepancy exists between the national education policies, mainly the Reforma Educativa of 1994, and its implementation in Escana. But also can be noticed a difference between the primary education in Escana and the knowledge needs of the people which stem from their future life expectancies.
