The bone marrow is key to protective immunological memory. In the central dogma, memory is provided by circulating memory T-cells. The memory T cells in BM are part of this. Some challenge this view, and claim memory T cells are also sessile and resting, while others instead claim that there is a proliferative fraction within this quiescent pool. The role of proliferation in the bone marrow remains ambiguous to this day.
